Canadian Coalition Against Ageism
The Canadian Coalition Against Ageism (CCAA) is a nation-wide social change movement to end ageism against older people while protecting and strengthening their human rights.
Introducing new bilingual educational resources
The development of these educational resources was undertaken in partnership with the Canadian Coalition Against Ageism (CCAA) and with funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Aging.
- The Ageism Awareness Modules offer people across Canada and beyond a foundational introduction to what ageism is, why it matters, how it affects us all, and how to address it.
- The Ageism Toolkit is a complementary resource that brings together a diverse set of tools and activities to deepen understanding of ageism, explore its impacts, and promote concrete actions to challenge it across multiple sectors of society.

About CCAA
What is Ageism? Ageism is a root cause of human rights violations against older people.
1 out of 2 people are greatly affected by ageism globally.
Ageism is destructive to healthy aging and the economy, while also disrupting intergenerational harmony.
It is imperative to protect older people’s human rights.
ILC Canada & partners launched the Canadian Coalition Against Ageism… a social change movement fighting ageism with evidence-based strategies.
These include 3 World Health Organization recommended interventions:
- Education across the lifespan
- Enhance intergenerational relations
- Influencing policy and laws
A United Nations convention on the rights of older people will transform everything from laws to social norms that underlie ageism.
