About The Ageism Awareness 2025 Campaign

Campaign Purpose

To recognise the contributions of older people, advocate for their rights, and combat ageism through storytelling, education, and community participation — while advancing inclusion, intergenerational connection, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Campaign Overview

Ageism Awareness Week (October 1–9, 2025) is a collaborative national campaign led by the Canadian Coalition Against Ageism (CCAA), in alignment with the International Day of Older Persons (October 1), Canada’s National Seniors Day (October 1), and Ageism Awareness Day in the U.S. (October 9). This week amplifies efforts to raise awareness about ageism in all its forms and sectors—healthcare, media, policy, communities, and workplaces.

Campaign Objectives

  • Elevate the voices of older persons
  • Strengthen education and awareness, especially in healthcare
  • Promote intergenerational strategies and inclusion
  • Engage all sectors of society in systemic change
  • Connect ageism to broader issues of equity, justice, and innovation
